Adam and Heather wanted to do something that felt local and filled with DC awesome for their elopement wedding. They used to live on the Hill and go to Eastern Market frequently, but they’ve since moved out of the neighborhood — but their wedding brought them back, with their daughter in tow! They had the sweetest family-centered ceremony and then we walked/skipped/ran around the neighborhood and ended up over at Eastern Market for some of those famously delicious doughnuts.

Adam and Heather also shared some thoughts about their planning process:

Why Pop! Wed Co. instead of a traditional/event-type wedding?
We went back and forth several times between a traditional wedding and a small ceremony for just us.  Obviously financials had a lot to do with it, but after reading about Pop! Wed, we decided to just go for it!  We put our trust in Maggie and Steven to scope out the best locations given our few parameters and they did great!  This took all our stress out of planning a large expensive event and narrowed it down to the essentials.  If our biggest concern was what to wear, that made our lives much easier.  We were able to enjoy just our family in a relaxed and simple atmosphere, we were just comfortable.  That is priceless.

What was your favorite part of your wedding?
Our favorite part was that we were able to focus on us.  Sounds selfish, but at the end of the day we didn’t have to worry about logistics, and people, and registries and all of that.  We were able to walk up, say “I do!” and smile and laugh.

Did you guys have anything special planned after your wedding?
After the wedding we just wanted to be together.  We went to brunch nowhere crazy or exotic, then spent an afternoon at the pool.  It was like a mini vacation day for us. Perfect.

What advice would you share with other couples who are planning elopement-style weddings?
Make it fun, don’t stress.  The reason we chose this route was to make our day as stress free as possible, and it was.  Have fun with the pictures, enjoy the moment, and just be yourself in that moment. Don’t let everyone else dictate how YOUR day should be.
