The Smithsonian American Art Museum was the perfect setting for John and MK’s vintage elopement – MK is a painter, and the museum had long been one of their favorite places to spend time. The weather was perfect on a late October afternoon, and the ceremony was officiated by MK’s brother Andrew. Their outfits perfectly matched the venue, and when paired with Lauren‘s timelessly beautiful photographic style, these images are just gorgeous.
We love the American Art Museum for wedding portraits, and having the ceremony outside in front of the beautiful marble facade is a perfect spot for elopements or even a few guests to join, too.
MK’s black wedding dress is perfect, isn’t it? It’s so awesome to see different styles of wedding dresses other than the traditional long white dress to offer inspiration for people who are looking for their ideal dresses. White dresses are also fantastic for getting married in if that’s what you feel best in, but we know there’s tons of inspiration in that department already. And as someone who wears black almost every day, it’s so fun to see a black dress, well, dressed up (!) so beautifully for a fancy occasion like an elopement! And John’s gray suit with the pop of color in his tie makes them a gorgeous pair, each with their own style that complements the other 😍
MK’s hair and makeup was done by Micaela from Ella Beauty. Thanks Micaela!
