Wondering how to plan an affordable DC wedding that’s also the most fun? A tiny wedding, that is? Well you’re in luck, cause Orlena and Benji’s Giant Pop Wedding was awesome, affordable, and full of family and happiness, and it might just give you some ideas 💡

We planned Orlena and Benji’s wedding in just a few short weeks in our very own neighborhood — H Street! — at Smith Commons. It was a beautiful ceremony and the time of day, just before sunset, was absolutely perfect.

How did you two meet? When did you decide to get married?

We met as coworkers at Restoration Hardware in 2013. We kept making excuses to go on break together until Benji worked up the courage to ask me out on a real date. He says he knew I was “the one” a couple months into the relationship. I made him wait a few more years just to be sure.
In October of 2017, Benji took me on a date in Georgetown, and near where we shared our first kiss, and surrounded by both of our families, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.

What was your wedding planning process like?

Fast and Furious! (Benji’s favorite movie) In all seriousness, Orlena’s father is ill, and doctors recommended that in order to have her father present and able to participate, the wedding be sooner rather than later. We still wanted to have an intimate yet elegant ceremony on the fly, and thankfully Pop! Wed Co came to the rescue! You made the process fun, easy, and low-stress.

What was the most fun part of your wedding day?

Seeing each other for the first time in our wedding outfits! And also our photo session with Barbara O. We had lots of on-lookers congratulating and complimenting us, which was sort of surreal but also pretty cool.

What was the most meaningful or special part of your wedding day?

For Benji it was reciting our wedding vows and seeing our families come together for the first time on our special day. For Orlena, it was having her father be able to walk her down the aisle and getting to share the dance floor with him (one of our favorite past times together).

How did you decide who to invite to your wedding?

We invited close family and close, local friends. We are planning to have a big party this summer where we invite more friends and extended family.

How did you find your outfits?

We started with Pinterest. Benji’s final outfit came out pretty close to what he pinned on our joint wedding board. Orlena ended up finding a dress that was nothing like what she originally envisioned but was something she knew Benji would love.
